Fresh And Thirty

Will turned 30 last week and I wanted to make it as special as I could. So off we went, to Miami for a surprise couple of days!

When thinking of where I wanted to take Will on his birthday, I wanted it to be sophisticated and most importantly, relaxing, thus, The Standard. I reached out to them and my main gal and hotel liason, Crispy, helped me make it a truly memorable experience as soon as we arrived.

Will was met at the lobby door with a fine scotch, hand picked by Crispy! We were then led to our upgraded room that had a piece of cake, sweet handwritten notes and our own luxe, private patio with an outdoor tub.

Ready to relax, we headed to the dock and soaked up some Vitamin D and let our troubles just melt away. Also, we got these dope thread bracelets to show that we were guests, and have yet to take them off.

You have to go through a secret zen garden to get to the hotel, which includes a fire pit, swings, hammocks and a sculpture garden. The in between area was probably my favorite, as the sounds of the resort fell away and all you heard was the leaves rustling. Obviously the perf spot for a photoshoot.

Hours of people / dog watching (The Standard is a dog friendly hotel) and seeing monster lizards scurry up the palms, later, we headed to our Thanksgiving dinner at The Lido

The next morning we fought to stay in bed but it was such a beautiful day that we planted ourselves back at the pool and sipped on coffee, planning our adventures in Wynwood.

We wanted to fill our day with hitting a bunch of breweries, taco trucks and sightseeing, so we left the sanctuary of The Standard, vowing to come back soon!

Wynwood was bursting with life so we had a blast just taking our time walking around! We stopped at local breweries like Concrete Beach Brewing, J Wakefields and Veza Sur Brewing. Trying new beers made the experience of looking at the Wynwood Walls with a million people crowding around us more enjoyable!

Will was in hog heaven the whole time and after him being on a 3 week business trip, it was so nice to just not have an agenda.

We ended our trip with a traffic-free drive home from Miami with the windows down. All in all, a wonderful escape to celebrate my love's monumental birthday.

What to pack for a trip to Miami:

-You can't go wrong with an all white ensemble. White shorts, white shirt, white shoes - I feel like it all works in Miami.

-Bright colors. The perfect compliment to the white outfit is a pop of color. This can be a major statement or a delicate detail. For example, I wore the L*Space one piece I got from Norcross Boutique and paired with a cute light pink handkerchief for the pool!

-Gold jewelry. Whenever I go to Miami, I'm usually wearing my Madewell gold hoops!

-Cozy but cute shoes. You will probably be walking around in Wynwood so a cute pair of flats or Vans is a great shoe to rely on for no blisters.

-Something that BREATHES! While my pink sweater was cute, the sun peeked out and turned my light sweater into a long sleeve ball of fire!

Gotta give you the most important thing - the outfit deets! They are linked below for easy online shopping!
